Road Trip to the Oregon Coast!

On Monday, March 23rd, we got in the car at 3:00 am and drove to Newport, Oregon. On Tuesday, March 24th, we got in the car at 9:30 am and drove back home! What a crazy trip but we had a blast!
One of the highlights was getting a call from Spencer when we were at Multnomah Falls. He had a 5 hour layover in Texas and was allowed to call us! He is super excited to finally be heading to Mexico and getting to use his new found language and teaching skills! We know he will do well.
First stop - Bonneville Dam on the Columbia River - very cold and very damp! Check out Becca's new USC hoodie - the only thing she wanted for her birthday (it is hard to believe she is now 14)! Robyn is still true blue in her BYU hoodie!

Lydia and I enjoying the same cold and dampness as the girls!
The Bonneville Dam!
What did the fish say when it swam into the concrete wall? Dam! This is the fish ladder to help the fish get around the dam and avoid that problem! There is a viewing area that allows you to actually get an underwater view of the fish - unfortunately for us only one trout was making the journey!

Trout feeding frenzy! They raise trout and salmon at the Bonneville Dam.

25 year old sturgeon - these things are BIG!

In front of the gift store - what's a trip without the souvenirs?

Second Highest Falls in the US!

That's Becca, Robyn, and Bob on the bridge!

Beautiful Place!

Next stop - the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport! We got here at 3:30 and the aquarium closes at 5:00! We cut it close but it was worth the visit!

Several of the local denizens.

View of our motel from the beach!
Definitely too cold for a swim!

Yummy birthday dinner for Becca then back to the motel for popcorn and "24", a good night's rest, and back to Idaho!

It was wonderful!
